Somehow

I feel like I have spent a large percentage of my life staying quiet and obscure.   It's just easier that way.  Now in this season I feel like I am hearing God call me out in a new way.  The lyrics of this song come from the hunger that I have to give Him glory.  They also come from the frustration of trying to express that glory through a "heart that feels and fears it".  The great struggle of my life will always be trying to use what I have been given and turn it into worship before the throne of God.  In the midst of this struggle I am finding my voice.

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret places of the cliff,
Let me see your face,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your face is lovely.”

Song of Songs 2:14

This passage can be applied as Jesus speaking to His Bride the church.  This statement by Jesus is astonishing in light of the fact that the Bride actually denies Him in 2:17.  This reveals the weakness of the Bride.  She struggles with fear as Jesus calls her to join Him in mature partnership.  Despite her struggle Jesus says "let me hear your voice"!  He says "your voice is sweet" to me.  Jesus knows exactly what it takes to call out the voice of His Bride. As I read this passage I can hear God saying to this generation "I am giving you a voice!".  So it is time:

To let it sing
To let it soar
To let it find its way somehow
Before your throne
